Finding unmarked family graves

I know the cemetery (in some cases) where family members were buried but how do I go about finding the spot without having to contact the council?

The cemetery is Newburgh in Fife & the family name is Newell.

Any pointers much appreciated

If the grave site is unmarked, then the only way is to contact the administrators of the cemetries and ask them. If it is still a working cemetery, then often they have people that will give you the location of a particular person. If they are older, or closed cemeteries, then you will have to go through the council, or the body that the council has entrusted the records to (some times libary). Some of the really old cemetries, the records have just gone.
